Haley, please tell us a little about yourself, your family, how your business came about, and what you enjoy in your downtime.

“I was born and raised in Newcomerstown and absolutely love this little town and the community. Some people may not like small villages because everyone knows everyone, but for me it is the best place to be because of this reason. In times of need, people step up and do all they can. It is almost like one big family. I was raised by my mother who has since passed although she was my world, and I know that she is sitting in heaven smiling from ear to ear at my accomplishments.

“My mother was a single mom. I watched her struggle at times, and I knew that I wanted to persevere and fulfill my dreams so that I never had to go through that struggle in life. She was a fantastic mother even through all the trials. However, I always knew she wanted more for her children, and that is why this new business venture is so important to me.

“I am fortunate to have a super supportive husband and our four beautiful children who inspire me every single day. They have always encouraged me to keep going through every adventure I partake in. They are literally my absolute everything, and I want to make them proud of me too. In our downtime, we live and breathe camping. It is truly my happy place with just the family and the camper onward to whatever destination we have in mind.

“I have always grown up around dogs, and every other kind of animal from a ferret to a hedgehog, and I do not want to forget Misha, the pig. My love for animals started as a young child, and it just grew and grew from there.  About eight years ago it really took off, and here I am with a new chapter in my life.

“I honestly realized within the past year after watching so many people ask for a groomer that we really did not have as many local groomers as the community could support, and that realization is what put my new business plans in motion. Me being me, I went in head strong and full force, and made it happen.”

What services does All Paws on Deck Grooming offer to your clients?  What are your specialties?

“All Paws on Deck will offer bathing, deshedding and nail trimming for your pampered pooch all the way to full grooming services. A small pet boutique featuring many doggie products from local businesses will be another added element at All Paws on Deck. I am currently collaborating a partnership with a dog trainer so that we can offer basic obedience courses for your fur baby. We have many other surprises in store, but I will save those for our Open House.

“Every single staff member has worked very closely with animals. One of our groomers has been grooming for 20 plus years specializing in breed specific grooms and complicated grooms. She also offers the ‘fun’ hair dye if you want to adorn your pooch for the holiday and other special occasions. Our second groomer has been grooming for a couple of years and has attended Mid-East in their vet assisting program. She recently began working in a grooming room, and realized that was her true passion. My main goal is to make sure your dog’s receive the upmost in grooming services.  As you can see, we have an amazing and skilled staff to give the doggie or doggies in your life a pleasant grooming experience.

“I want my clients to know that when they drop off their beloved pet we will go above and beyond your expectations; your pet will be well taken care of. Our customers will also be well taken care of as they enjoy an inviting atmosphere at All Paws on Deck should they choose to wait while their pet is being pampered.  Another highlight we hope to offer soon is a pick-up/delivery service benefiting those that are unable to transport their pet for grooming services.

“For now, we will be grooming dogs only — both small and large breed. A cat groomer is on my radar, and I hope to have news to share on that soon. The dog training will involve basic obedience such as walking on a leash, obeying commands and everyday skills. We will continue to add other training courses in the future.”

What would you like to highlight for us?

“For those thinking of beginning their own business; my best advice would be to go after your dreams. Even when things get tough keep striving for what you want. I once had someone tell me that: ‘You are the only person standing in your way of achieving your goals.’ I’ve have since lived by this. There comes a point in your life when you have to realize that saying “no” to yourself is not an option.”

“I would like to take this opportunity recognize and thank my husband, Cody Vickers for dealing with all my ideas and the work I throw his way, as well as my mother for guiding me to becoming the person I am today. In addition, my children are amazing, and they constantly support me by sharing their excitement throughout the journey. I want to send a shout out and a big thank you to the employees of All Paws on Deck waiting on standby to get this venture going, as well as my friends who are there when I need reassurance. “
