Southington Approves New Pet Grooming Facility – Patch

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local land-use officials have approved an application for a new pet-grooming facility in town.
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously voted 7-0 Jan. 3 to approve a special permit application for New Britain resident Melissa Russo to operate a pet-grooming salon on Queen Street.
It will be located at 1049 Queen St . at the Riverbend Plaza in an area zoned for business uses.
A public hearing on the application drew no comments for or against the proposal.
Russo said she’s a former hairdresser who “has found her calling to serve animals. ”
She said the plan “is for a peaceful and kind space for creatures where one (maximum two) will be served at time. ”
Russo told PZC members animals not being groomed would be crated while they await services.
