A Dry Bar for Pups
Nicole and Erika, who together have over a combined 20 year experience in the dog industry, opened Ruff to Fluff Bar in October 2022. With a team of well-trained groomers + bathers, Nicole and Erika prioritize short wait times for appointments and happy customers.
“While we love baths plus blowouts, we do understand that some dogs also need haircuts, which is why we also provide grooming services on limited days, ” Erika told Hoboken Girl . “With grooming salons inundated with pandemic pups, wait times are becoming longer and longer, which can be frustrating to clients, especially if your dog just needs a bath now. At Ruff to Fluff Bar, clients no longer need to wait weeks for an appointment, and we also offer monthly membership options that can be tailored to each client’s schedule. ”
The most popular items on the list in Ruff to Fluff Pub are the baths and blowouts, plus the seasonal fragrances the pups (and owners) love. The boutique is very close to the 9th Street Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station elevator which makes it convenient for both Hoboken + Jersey City residents who need dogrooming solutions.
Unlike most grooming salons, Ruff to Fluff Bar has an open concept layout which allows owners to watch their pet throughout the entire grooming process. There is also a workspace with refreshments provided for clients, in case you want to clean up your inbox and pup at the same time. Over the course of 10 years, Nikki has noticed nervous dogs and their sometimes equally nervous owners are calmed by being able to see each other, so the open concept was really important to help support the client experience .
Beyond baths, blowouts, and haircuts, Ruff to Fluff Club also provides nail clipping, anal gland expression, trimming around paw pads, body massage, and fur dematting. The color bar lets owners get creative with painted nails and colored tails for a festive pop of color. Baths for small pups start at $65, medium dogs $75, and big dog services start at $85.
A monthly membership for your furry loved one is also available and includes two baths each month for $95. All baths include Ruff in order to Fluff signature bows and bowties — which are also available for purchase in the shop, along with other retail items. Baths can also be transferred to your pup’s furry friends (think the ideal Christmas gift or spa pawty).
“Looking ahead, we would love to open up other bars where clients can use their membership across locations, s i nce there is such a need in the dogrooming space, ” Erika shared. “The best part of running this dog grooming business is getting to meet so many new furry friends plus coming up with innovative ways to make the dogrooming experience better for both the client and their own dog. ”
Ruff to Fluff Bar is open up Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9AM in order to 5PM; Saturdays from 9AM to 7PM; and closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
