Entertainment venue Ozarks Event Center opened July 18 at 842 W. Guin Road in Nixa. Owner Marc Backes said he purchased the building and land from Excel Investments LP, noting the 9, 000-square-foot space had been just a shell for the past 14 years. His investment for its purchase and development was $1. 3 million, he stated. Backes said Construction Processing Co. LLC was general contractor with Paragon Architecture LLC as architect for the infill project. Ozarks Occasion Center, which has a full-service bar, provides space for gatherings, including weddings, corporate events, charity fundraisers and banquets. Additionally , Backes said the venue with capacity for 476 people hosts cornhole competitions several nights a week. He said the event space was a natural addition to Ozarks Entertainment LLC, which he’s owned since 2018. Ozarks Amusement services include bingo games, casino set-ups, DJ services, movie projectors and photo booths for private parties and fundraisers.

Zoomin Groomin
The first Missouri franchise for Virginia Beach, Virginia-based mobile pet grooming company Zoomin Groomin opened in Springfield on Aug. 25. Dina Readinger is franchisee through Lyla Enterprises Inc. She declined to disclose startup costs, and the company’s website doesn’t list franchise fees. The three-employee venture serves dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds, providing bathing, haircuts plus nail trimming, as well as cleaning of ears, teeth and anal glands. Zoomin Groomin travels to clients’ homes in a conversion van outfitted with grooming equipment, and its coverage area is Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic plus Rogersville, she said. LLC, Readinger said becoming a Zoomin Groomin franchisee was inspired by her family’s adoption of a dog amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
