Newton dog groomers becomes an award-winning business – Warrington Guardian
A DOG grooming business in Newton-le-Willows won two awards on Sunday.
Arkadia Dog Grooming and Pet Services on Crow Lane attended England’s Business Awards in Manchester on Sunday where it was awarded best pet grooming business and best customer service in the Liverpool City Region.
Following its triumph at the regional awards, the winner is now set to attend the national awards within Birmingham in November.
Rebecca Vowles, one of the owners of the Newton business, said: “It was amazing winning the first one, and then we thought we were gone for the night, but then they announced the second one towards the end, which was the customer service one; it was just unreal.
“It’s lovely to have that recognition of what we’ve built and it was a huge surprise. “
The prestigious awards ceremony was held at Macdonald Manchester Hotel, with the team’s loved ones also there to show support.
The 28-year-old added: “It was a lovely night; there was all four of us, our partners, Beth’s parents and mine and Catherine’s parents, because we wouldn’t have been able to set up the business without their support, so it was nice treating them to a three-course meal and a night out.
“Having that behind us that we’ve won a good award based on what we’ve built and the way we have been running the business is a confidence boost in ourselves. “
Rebecca, who gave the particular speech at Sunday’s event, also mentioned that the nerves have kicked in for the upcoming national awards as she’s feeling ‘super nervous’.
She set up the business with her sister Catherine Vowles and their friend Beth Rimmer five weeks before the initial lockdown.
Alongside their title as an award-winning dog groomers, the trio carry a portfolio of qualifications and experiences benefitting the business, including Rebecca’s degree in Animal Behaviour, Catherine’s diploma in Animal Behaviour, and Beth with over 10 years’ worth of grooming experience.
