The Brooklawn Country Club, 500 Algonquin Road in Fairfield, will be the site of the Connecticut Beardsley Zoo’s 16th Annual Golf Outing and Tournament on Sept. 12.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p. m.
People can register as a team of four or as individual golfers.
A $500 fee for individual golfers, or $2, 500 corporate sponsorship includes a round of golf, corporate promotion on the zoo’s website, e-newsletter and social media, and food and drinks.
Each golfer receives a complimentary bag, and a Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo golf shirt.
Attendees will also enjoy an open bar, cigar rolling, and a silent auction.

Salty Dog Grooming Shoppe holds grand opening
The Salty Dog Grooming Shoppe held a grand opening on Aug. 24 at 475 Kings Highway East in Fairfield.
Fairfield First Selectwoman Brenda L. Kupchick officiated the ceremony.
Guests were also able to learn about the business’s pet friendly services plus why the business is special.
The particular business’s owner is Melissa Small, a third-generation Fairfield resident and a third-generation groomer.
Small’s grandmother, Doris Hyde, founded Dove-Cote Kennels in 1969 and was one of the founding members of the Bichon Frise Club of Southern New England. The breed required diligent grooming, and the family learned alongside her.
Small has more than 54 years of expertise, and 23 years of personal professional experience.

Venders sought for upcoming Harvest Market
The chamber of commerce is accepting vendor applications for its annual Fairfield Harvest Market, which will be held 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Oct. 15.
The annual event is free and open to the public. It will be held rain or shine on the old town green, located at the corner of the Old Post Road and Beach Road.
The holding chamber encourages vendors to reach out as soon as possible because spots fill up quickly.
The 2021 event featured more than 60 well known, and unique retail vendors, a farmers market, a Halloween costume dog parade and a variety of food trucks.
