A brand-new dog grooming beauty salon in Carlisle welcomed its first four-legged customers in February.

The Muddy Paw is operating from a refurbished hair salon within popular garden centre, Houghton Hall.

The firm has recruited a team of certified grooming experts to provide its extensive range of services, with Lead Dog Groomer Chanelle McDowell and Dog Grooming Assistant Chloe Watmough, leading the Carlisle branch.

Alongside traditional grooming services including bathing & styling, nail clipping, and hand stripping, the team provide some additional, special treatments. From pawdicures, to deep facial cleanses and puppy pamper packages, there are plenty of options to treat your pooch to.

The salon also provides tailored canine wellness treatments, with a particular focus on pet mental health. On site, the team members can provide advice for owners on specific wellbeing issues, as well as general pet care queries.

Owner James Rubython said: “We’ve enjoyed a genuine buzz towards our unique offering within Carlisle, bringing grooming plus wellness all under one roof to give owners total convenience.

“We’re placing a lot of emphasis on the link between our services and overall pet wellbeing. For dogs, life after lockdown has meant readjusting to owners being away from home more, leading to increased rates of anxiety. Getting your dog into a consistent wellness routine may help to alleviate signs of this, while furthermore giving them more socialisation opportunities too. ”

The Muddy Paw’s treatments are open to all types of dogs, welcoming different breeds and sizes into the salon, where the groomers will keep your pet comfortable throughout the duration of their appointment.
