In downtown Sarasota, cranes and construction workers have become as common a sight as morning dog walkers and people heading to the office. There’s no doubt about it: We’re in the middle of a condo craze. According to Zillow, the heart of the city saw 181 condo sales close in the last 12 months, compared to just 48 for all other home types, and the roughly 12, 000 current downtown residents are about to welcome 1, 700 more units. From the Rosemary District to Golden Gate Point and the bayfront, Sarasota’s skyline will never be the same again.
